The history of La Ronge and area will be on display at the Northern Saskatchewan Archives this week.

The archives will be holding an open house at the Pahkisimon Nuye?áh Library System headquarters in Air Ronge on Tuesday afternoon.

The Northern Saskatchewan Archives feature several displays showcasing northern Saskatchewan’s history. This year the open house will feature several new photos from the 1920s to the 1950s.

Archivist Graham Guest says he has received the old photos from a few long standing La Ronge families.

“It is strange that all these three families were interrelated, so I think (the display) will be very interesting for people,” says Guest.

“I get several visitors all year and almost always somebody in the group will recognize their mother, their auntie or their grandmother,” says Guest. “It is just an amazing place to be in when you have a lot of pictures of the old days.”

The open house will take place from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday and will feature the new photographs along with the other displays at the archives.
