A northern Saskatchewan man has been given a ten-year prison sentence for the death of woman in Dillon two summers ago.
In a plea bargain reached with Crown prosecutors, Larry “Chiefy” Billette pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of manslaughter.
He had originally been charged with second degree murder in the July 2003 killing of Joan Campbell.
Billette was credited twice with the time he has already served in remand, so the time he will actually serve in a federal penitentiary will be seven years.
In addition, Billette is prohibited from owning or using a firearm for the next ten years.
