Access Cable has blown the CRTC out of the water by offering a $19.95 package called AccessMicro in 14 Saskatchewan communities, including Regina and North Battleford.
The regulatory board has made it a requirement that all licensed cable operators in Canada start offering basic cable packages below $25, effective March 1. Access’s $19 package is significantly lower than the requirement, and AccessMicro is only $9.95 for those who already get internet through Access.
On Monday, Access announced that it’s only required to offer the “skinny packages” in two communities, but aims to offer cheaper services in as many of the 27 communities it serves as quickly as possible.
AccessMicro provides an entry point television service of 26 channels that include 10 HD, the 4+1 American Networks (ABC, NBC, Fox, PBS, CBS), Go Apps and a digital set top box.
