A man accused in a shooting death on Ahtahkakoop First Nation is not expected to go to trial.

Dakota Knife, 20, was arrested in September after Tyrone Jacob Knife, 21, was found on a trail in the community, fatally wounded.

Tyrone died before an emergency STARS air ambulance flight was able to transport him to hospital.

On Tuesday, legal aid lawyer Adam Masiowski told Prince Albert court they’ve spoken in depth with the Crown prosecutor and are close. He told Judge Herradence “there’s an offer on the table.”

Dakota has been provided with the evidence in his case, and court has given him two months to review all the court documents.

He has not sought bail, and is back in court by video in late May.
