The Saskatoon Public School Division is intersted in knowing more about the ongoing Cree immersion program being offered at the Onion Lake First Nation.
That’s because the school division plans to introduce a Cree immersion-type pilot project of its own this fall in a school that has yet to be chosen.
School division spokesperson Patricia Prowse says the program will be made available to kindergarten students.
Prowse says aside from enlisting the help of education officials in Onion Lake, the school division will also seek guidance from elders and the local Aboriginal community.
Prowse says the school division is giving this a try because of increased demand from the local community.
