Nine men face 20 charges after a two-month covert police operation in Regina.
Friday was the day that “Project SHRED,” a public safety initiative undertaken by the drug enforcement and street gang unit, took nine men between the ages of 18 and 40 into custody.
They’re charged with robbery with violence, extortion, assault causing bodily harm.
Eight of the men are charged with participation in the Native Syndicate, which police call a “criminal organization,” and police allege that 35-year-old Jeremy John Arnold holds a leadership role. He’s charged with instructing commission of criminal offence for criminal organization.
Police have seized a bevy of drugs including fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, morphine and marijuana. They also say firearms, ammunition, a machete, and replica firearms have been collected as evidence.
The men first faced those charges in Regina Court on Monday morning.
