Saskatchewan’s highest court has dismissed a wrongful dismissal suit filed against the First Nations University more than 10 years ago.

The institution’s former vice-president Wes Stevenson filed the suit after he was fired with cause over allegations of misspending.

In 2011 he pleaded guilty to defrauding the federal government of more than $15,000 in false expense claims for trips he took on behalf of the university.

Stevenson lost his wrongful dismissal case in Court of Queen’s Bench last year, but appealed.

That case was heard on Friday, with the Court of Appeal agreeing he was fired with cause.
