Saskatchewan’s job market took a significant hit last month, with the provincial unemployment rate increasing two-tenths of a percent to 6.3 per cent.
That number is well below the national average of 7.4 per cent.
The numbers are even grimmer when it comes to aboriginal employment. The off-reserve First Nation unemployment rate was 24.7 per cent, while the Metis rate was 9.1 per cent.
Meanwhile, the unemployment for the non-aboriginal population in Saskatchewan was five per cent last month, a drop of 0.2 per cent from June.
These numbers are based on a three month averaging and are not seasonally adjusted.
