Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall is speaking out again about the public debate surrounding the shooting death of 22-year-old Colten Boushie.
Earlier this month the Red Pheasant First Nation man was shot and killed in a farmyard in the RM of Glendale.
Rallies were held outside of courthouses in the Battlefords on Thursday as Gerald Stanley, the man accused of killing him made court appearances.
Stanley is charged with second degree murder, a charge he has pleaded not guilty too.
The incident has lead to heated racial tensions in the province especially online.
While speaking to reporters on Friday morning Premier Wall says people need to think before responding emotionally to this very emotional situation.
“The Saskatchewan values and the Saskatchewan character is built on tolerance, actually if you look at our history you will see We are good neighbours and we have to remember that,” said Wall.
The Premier says these ongoing conversations are teaching the province a lesson in tolerance.
UPDATE: reports are coming in that Gerald Stanley has been released on bail.
Reports say, the 54 year-old was granted his release on $10,000 bail with several conditions.
He must remain within a 4 mile radius of his home and will be subject to electric monitoring.
