The Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business says they are excited for what they say is a “progressive” and “insightful” report on the duty to consult.

The Canadian Chamber of Commerce recently released an in-depth report on the duty to consult process.

The report provides more clarity on the process and highlights solutions and opportunities businesses will found when undertaking duty to consult.

“The duty to consult with Indigenous communities should not be perceived as an obstacle to business growth by the non-Indigenous community,” said Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business President and CEO, JP Gladu in a news release. “Our Indigenous people have been in business since long before the fur trade and today are leading a new generation of Indigenous business confidence.”

The Chamber of Commerce report was released on September 8, 2016 and is entitled Seizing Six Opportunities For More Clarity in the Duty to Consult and Accommodate Process.

According to Gladu, the report highlights the many important steps that need to be taken to support Aboriginal business development in Canada.

The CCAB is a national non-profit organization that aims to help foster economic opportunities for Aboriginal people and businesses.
