The Saskatoon Blades will be honouring Indigenous people on Thursday evening when the major junior hockey team hosts First Nations Night versus the Moose Jaw Warriors.

President of the Blades, Steve Hogle, says there will be several things going on throughout the evening.

“Fred Sasakamoose, the first First Nations hockey player in the NHL who played for Chicago is going to come drop the puck,” said Hogle. “We’ll have a procession of the chiefs and leadership from the Saskatoon Blades as well.”

“So, it’s going to be a real special night, and then in addition to that ceremonial part, we’re also going to have some displays on the concourse and just demonstrating some great leaders from the First Nations community in various areas,” added Hogle.

The Saskatoon Blades have been hosting First Nations Night for over six years now. Tonight’s game versus Moose Jaw is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
