New Board In Place For Sandy Bay Addictions Centre

A new board has been elected to govern operations at the Sandy Bay Outpatient Centre, following a last-minute meeting.
The Mamawetan Churchill River Regional Health Authority will partner with the new board to oversee operations and provide addiction services to members of the community.
The health authority had imposed a deadline for the community to come up with new board members, following the health region’s decision to terminate the current board over accountability concerns.
Health authority spokesman John Kreiser says he is now optimistic about the future of the centre.
The current board’s contract will expire at the end of March, and that’s when the new board of elected members from the community will take over.
