Loon Lake RCMP are investigating a house fire on the Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation that happened Tuesday evening.

Upon arrival at the residence at around 10:15 p.m., an RCMP news release says officers saw the house was fully engulfed in flames, with heavy smoke billowing from the structure.

The responding members could not enter the residence to determine if there were any occupants inside, but did confirm that no one was in the residence.

An adult female and three children were safe and accounted for and were not present in the residence during the fire. Members of the Loon Lake Fire Department responded to the blaze.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and is still under investigation.

The blaze comes one week after another fire on the Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation, where  Loon Lake RCMP members put their safety on the line in helping a man escape from the burning house.

RCMP continue their investigation into both fires and say the two incidents are not related.
