Mounties say they arrested three males this week in connection with the murder of 16-year-old Mark Michel, who died Feb. 28 in Pelican Narrows.

River Jason James Charles, 19, Layton Adolph McCallum, 22, and a 17-year-old male youth are charged with first-degree murder and participation in a criminal organization.

Pelican Narrows RCMP say the three made their first court appearance in Prince Albert on Friday and were remanded into custody pending court dates on March 15 for the youth and March 21 for Charles and McCallum.

A total of four males from Pelican Narrows are charged with murder in Michel’s death.

River Blade Storm Linklater, 22, was arrested the same day Michel died and was charged with murder, attempted murder, and participation in a criminal organization.

Michel died early on Feb. 28 of “what appeared to be gunshot wounds,” an RCMP news release states.

Police say Michel’s death resulted after he and a 17-year-old girl left a home in Pelican Narrows and got into a fight with a group of people.

Michel was pronounced dead after he was taken to the local health centre.

The girl has been identified as a victim, but police say she was not injured.
