Canadians across the country are being asked to say a prayer for Indigenous youth struggling with hopelessness and considering suicide.

The “National Circle of Ceremony and Healing for our Spirits” is a day of prayer and ceremony to bring peace and healing in the face of the ongoing national suicide crisis.

The event was organized by the Assembly of First Nations. AFN Chief Perry Bellegarde will be in Fort Qu’Appelle to take part in ceremonies.

“Pray for our young ones, pray for strength, pray for courage,” he said. “Pray for that hope and inspiration they need, so they don’t look to suicide as an out of whatever they are facing.”

The AFN is asking all Canadians to participate by praying or performing ceremonies according to their own faiths and customs.
