There will be a recount for one of the positions in the recent Metis Nation – Saskatchewan elections.
The unofficial results had Ashley Norton defeating Lisa McCallum in a close race for MN-S secretary.
But after the results became official, McCallum was declared the winner for finishing eight votes ahead of Norton.
The MN-S Election Act states that if there is a difference between votes of two per cent or less, an official recount will have to be done through Court of Queen’s Bench and a judge will set the date for a recount.
Chief Returning Officer Loretta Metzger was unavailable for comment. Her office did say the application to the courts has not yet been made, but that they were working on the application process.
