A charitable organization that offers support for high school students in low-income communities across Canada is expanding its reach into Saskatchewan.

Pathways to Education is partnering with the Saskatoon Tribal Council to launch a new Pathways program in Saskatoon.

The program is designed to help address the inequity in education opportunities for Indigenous students.

Data shows that Indigenous students are almost 50 per cent less likely to graduate from high school than their non-Indigenous peers.

The new partnership in Saskatoon will help students by providing financial assistance, after-school tutoring, and mentoring to help them graduate from high school and transition to post-secondary education, training, or employment.

There are now 20 Pathways programs in eight provinces across Canada today, serving more than 5,000 students and over 4,000 alumni. The program boasts average sign-up rates of over 80 per cent.
