Saskatoon Ready To Host Aboriginal Awards Gala
Thursday, March 31, 2005 at 13:28
The 12th Annual National Aboriginal Achievement Awards will be presented at a gala ceremony in Saskatoon this evening.
This is the second time Saskatchewan has hosted the event — the awards show was held in Regina back in 1999.
The ceremony will honour 14 exceptional Aboriginal men and women — including two with ties to Saskatchewan.
First Nations University of Canada president Eber Hampton will receive an award in the education category.
Dr. Gerald McMaster of the Red Pheasant First Nation is being honoured in the arts and culture category.
Tonight’s celebration will be co-hosted by entertainers Andrea Menard and Michael Greyeyes.
It begins at 8:00 this evening at the Centennial Auditorium.
The ceremony will be broadcast on CBC and APTN in June.
