Road Link Not Mentioned In Alberta Budget

The completion of a road link from Fort McMurray to Garson Lake is not mentioned in the Alberta government’s budget announced yesterday.

Northern Saskatchewan leaders and the Saskatchewan government have been calling for the completion of such a link for a number of years in an attempt to boost employment, economic development and tourism on the West Side.

But Alberta Infrastructure and Transportation spokesman Bart Johnson says the proposed project is not in Alberta’s three-year capital plan unveiled yesterday.

Johnson says the Alberta government is still exploring whether the road link will be of benefit to that province.
