La Ronge Band Taking Council Meetings On The Road

Newly-elected Lac La Ronge Indian Band chief Tammy Cook-Searson is following through on one of her election promises.

Cook-Searson says band council meetings will soon be held in other band communities than La Ronge.

The first council meeting will take place in La Ronge next month.

The following meetings will be held in Little Red in July and Hall Lake in September.

There are also plans to host council meetings in Stanley Mission, Grandmother’s Bay and Sucker River.

Cook-Searson says the band council has to be more accessible to all its members — not just the ones in La Ronge.

All council meetings are open to band members, except for in-camera sessions.

Cook-Searson says members can also be asked to be put on the agenda of any council meeting, provided they give enough notice.
