It will be May 26th before a ruling is handed down in the fraud trial of a former chief and two band councillors at the Saulteaux First Nation.

Closing arguments in the trial of Gabe Gopher, Archie Moccasin and Mervin Night wrapped up yesterday at Battleford Court of Queen’s Bench.

The three men also face charges of breach of trust.

They’re accused of claiming false expenses from the band’s Treaty Land Entitlement account in 1997 and 1998.

During the trial, the Crown alleged that each of the accused illegally pocketed over $100,000 from Saulteaux’s TLE funds.
