Poundmaker Officials Dismiss Protest

It doesn’t appear that this week’s political turmoil on the Poundmaker First Nation will be settled anytime soon.
A councillor on the reserve says the administration has no plans to settle with a group of protesters currently occupying the band’s administration office.
The dissidents are calling for a general meeting and new election to be called as soon as possible.
However, councillor Bryan Tootoosis says that simply won’t happen.
He claims the protesters only represent about one percent of the band’s entire population, and says many of their demands are unreasonable.
Tootoosis says the administration won’t be pushed into action by the protesters, no matter how hard they try.
Cut Knife RCMP continue to monitor the situation.
