A 100-mile walking challenge has been extended to northern communities in celebration of Saskatchewan’s Centennial.

The Northern Healthy Communities Partnership has begun challenging northerners to adopt a more active lifestyle.

Northern Physical Activity Planning Committee spokesperson Sharalyn Reitlo says the group want northern residents walking a total of 100 miles from May 9th to October 2nd by averaging five miles a week.

Reitlo says the committee hopes to hit the northern goal of 100,000 miles by the fall.
