Replacement Mayor Found In St. George’s Hill

The official ballot count for the St. George’s Hill byelection has been released.
The new mayor of the northern hamlet is Donna Janvier, who won by nine votes over Tommy C. Bekkattla.
The available alderman position went to Adeline Bekkattla, who easily defeated Leonard Janvier by taking over 75 percent of the ballots cast.
Returning officer Crystal Desjarlais says the byelection was needed after the resignations of the former mayor and councillor.
The newly-elected officials were serve in office until the next round of municipal elections in October 2006.
