For the first time in recent memory, someone other than Barry Ahenakew is in charge at the Ahtahkakoop First Nation.
The Ahtahkakoop band held its chief and council election on Friday.
Challenger Larry Ahenekew defeated the incumbent 623 votes to 353.
This will be Larry Ahenakew’s first term as chief.
He will serve a two-year term in office.
