People who live in the Makwa Lake area can expect higher water levels in the next few days.

On June 29th or 30th, the Makwa Lake Dam will have a controlled water release done.

Saskatchewan Watershed Authority senior technologist Frank Fox says there is no risk of a flood, but caution should be used around waterways in the area.

Fox also says this has been one of the wettest seasons in about 20 years.

Water levels will be monitored throughout the summer until they return back to normal.

This is the second dam in the northwest that’s been affected by high water levels recently.

On Monday, the watershed authority conducted a planned breach of the Lac La Plonge Dam.
