La Ronge Ready To Proceed With Bottle Ban

The Town of La Ronge will soon become the second northern community to implement a glass beer bottle ban.

La Ronge Mayor Joe Hordyski says the ban on glass beer bottles will come into effect on September 1st.

Hordyski says the town was given the option to model a successful pilot project in La Loche, and town council didn’t hesitate to go ahead with it.

Hordyski says one of the main concerns for council was that the town has long been known as a tourist destination, and broken glass on the ground and in the parks is unacceptable in a tourist resort.

Hordyski adds it’s no secret that glass beer bottles have been used as weapons in a number of assaults in La Ronge.
