Another Day, Another Dismissal At The FNUC

The interim president of the First Nations University of Canada says yesterday’s firing of the dean of the Regina campus is another step in his efforts to restore confidence in the university’s administration.

Charles Pratt says Dawn Tato held the position on a probationary basis, and has been terminated.

He says Tato’s academic duties will be assumed by the university’s vice president of academics, while her administrative duties will be handled by the school’s vice president of administration.

Tato’s dismissal is the latest in a string of firings at the troubled university. Earlier this month, the dean of the Saskatoon campus, Dr. Winona Wheeler, saw her position abolished.

The First Nation University’s former vice president of administration, Wes Stevenson, was let go a couple of months ago following a forensic audit.

Stevenson says Tato’s decision to speak out against the recent firings cost her her job.
