Residents of the Fond du Lac First Nation can now say they’re home to the best Aboriginal firefighting unit in the country.
This weekend in Winnipeg, a team from Fond du lac beat out six other squads to win the National Aboriginal Firefighters Competition.
The event has been held every year since 1992 and gives teams a chance to display their skills before a panel of seasoned judges.
Fond du Lac fire chief Georgie McDonald says hard work and trust are the reasons why his seven-member team is so good.
McDonald’s team competed in events like hose rolling, water accuracy, bucket brigade and airpack placement.
