Another River Gathering has come and gone, and organizers say it was a smashing success.
About 600 northerners gathered in Sandy Bay this weekend to talk about a variety of issues and concerns, including how northern residents can get a bigger say on northern resources.
Spokesperson Ina Fietz-Ray says this past weekend’s event saw the sitting of the first Northern River Council, and she’s expecting the movement to pick up steam in the years ahead.
Fietz-Ray is also urging critics of the idea to give it time.
Organizers are hoping to hold next year’s River Gathering near Buffalo Narrows.
