One month after apparently agreeing with his sentence for stealing band TLE money, former Saulteaux chief Gabe Gopher is now appealing his conviction.

Gopher and two other former band officials were found guilty of pocketing $1 million in band TLE money, and transferring another $1.8 million to friends and family members.

After being sentenced to two years of house arrest and 240 hours of community service work last month, Gopher told reporters he thought his sentence was fair.

But in court documents filed yesterday, Gopher calls his conviction “unreasonable” and asks for an acquittal or a new trial.
