Lautermilch To Pitch All-Weather Roads To Industry

Mining companies that utilize northern roads should be helping pay for their upkeep, according to Saskatchewan’s new highways minister.
Eldon Lautermilch says it only makes sense to include industry in projects like the proposed Athabasca all-weather road network, because they are the ones using northern roads to ferry goods and services back and forth.
Lautermilch says he hopes to talk to industry players about the issue in the near future.
Lautermilch, who was given the Highways and Transportation portfolio last week, says he has a lot of reading up to do.
He plans to visit northern areas over the next few years to find out what the roads are really like.
