PBCN Chief Candidates To Be Nominated Today

Today is the nomination day for the upcoming byelection for chief of the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation.

The nominees will be vying to replace former chief Ron Michel, who resigned to head up the Prince Albert Grand Council last month.

Councillor Peter A. Beatty is currently sitting as the band’s acting chief.

The nominations will be held at 6:00 this evening in seven PBCN communities.

The actual voting is scheduled to take place November 29th at the same locations.

This will be the second time in the last eight months that PBCN members will be voting for chief.

The band’s last general election took place this past spring.
