A landmark court ruling affecting Metis will be the subject of attention next week at a conference in Saskatoon.

The Gabriel Dumont Institute is hosting a one-day talk at the Saskatoon Inn about what effect the Powley decision is having on the Canadian landscape.

Executive director Jordie McCaffrey notes the Supreme Court ruling that gave Metis in the Sault Ste. Marie area certain harvesting rights has had an impact on more than just hunting.

The conference is taking place on December 2nd at the Saskatoon Inn.

McCaffrey says lawyers who actually worked on the Powley case will be on hand to answer questions.
