Northern MP Jeremy Harrison has assured the Lac La Ronge Indian Band that funding commitments would be met for housing on its reserve, if the Conservatives were to win the federal election.

Harrison says he contacted Chief Tammy Cook-Searson yesterday, after he learned of her concerns and fears that an imminent federal election could cost the band $2.2 million in federal money for housing units already built on the reserve.

Harrison says he also commends the band for its methods of providing and distributing housing for members on its reserves.

He adds the Conservatives, if elected, would not ignore the issues of First Nations and would put a higher priority on northern issues.

He also says if the Conservatives were to form the next government, they would uphold pre-existing funding commitments like this one.
