Physician services will be restored in Big River, beginning next Tuesday.

The Prince Albert Parkland Health Region has secured the services of two doctors from Spiritwood who will treat members of the public.

The acting CEO of the health region, Dr. Louis Poulin, says the move isn’t a permanent solution to the doctor shortage, but it will alleviate some of the symptoms.

He says they are still actively looking for two doctors to move to Big River full-time.

Currently, residents of Big River and the nearby First Nation are being forced to drive to Shellbrook and Prince Albert for treatment.

The community’s only full-time doctor left yesterday.
