Northern MP Jeremy Harrison has made a political commitment to Metis elders who were displaced during the establishment of the Primrose Lake Air Weapons Range in the 1950s.
Harrison says, if there is a Conservative government, the $19.5-million economic development settlement for the northwest communities of Jans Bay, Cole Bay, Ile-a-la-Crosse and Beauval will be honored, along with any other pre-existing government commitments made to the North.
Harrison also commented today in response to the Athabasca Economic Development and Training Corporation’s challenge to the parties for funding for the Far North’s long-awaited all-weather road network.
If the Conservatives win the January 23rd federal election, Harrison says they will commit the funding to ensure the road project becomes a reality.
