A Regina-based lawyer hopes a lawsuit against the federal government will help generate more details about how it administered funding to a boarding school in Ile-a-la-Crosse.
Recently, Tony Merchant and his law firm filed a suit against Ottawa for not including former students of the school in its recently-announced compensation package for residential school survivors.
Merchant says the government’s position that the school was not federally-run doesn’t change the fact Ottawa helped fund it.
Merchant says there are roughly 100 plaintiffs named in the statement of claim.
He encourages other former students to contact his office, as well.
