FNUC Board Requests Second Forensic Audit

Another forensic audit has been ordered at the First Nations University of Canada.

According to a news release, the university’s board recently passed a resolution calling for forensic auditors to investigate areas that had been “red-flagged” in a report last year.

FNUC board chair Morley Watson says the board has given the auditors authority to look into matters the auditors felt warranted further investigation.

The initial audit was ordered early last year to look into alleged financial irregularities.

That audit was one of the catalysts of a series of firings, suspensions and resignations at the FNUC.

A task force that reviewed the university’s affairs last year has recommended the board be reduced to a third of its size, with much fewer First Nations political leaders on it.
