Northern Saskatchewan’s Liberal candidate says the commitments that came out of the First Ministers Meeting last November will be critical in addressing housing issues in the riding.

Gary Merasty, reached earlier this week, says the North will see a lot of the money earmarked for housing in the Kelowna Agreement.

Merasty says he and his Liberal colleagues agree that lack of adequate housing in northern Saskatchewan is one of the most pressing issues that needs to be taken care of after the election.

He says by improving housing, the North will benefit on a number of other levels related to quality of life.

Finance Minister Ralph Goodale reiterated the Liberals’ plan to improve northern housing when he unveiled the Liberals’ Saskatchewan platform earlier this week.
