Watrous RCMP have charged a 39 year old man after finding more than 880 counterfeit $20 bills in his home.

Lorne Howard Rode made his first court appearance yesterday in Saskatoon Provincial Court to face 4 charges related to the use, distribution and construction of counterfeit money.

In late January, RCMP were called after 2 Watrous businesses found that they had mistakenly accepted counterfeit $20 bills. On February 10th, a jacket containing counterfeit bills was turned over to police after it was found in a local business.

Subsequent investigation led Mounties to Rode’s home in Manitou Beach, where they confiscated a total of 881 counterfeit $20 bills valued at over $17,000.

RCMP say this incident is not connected to the recent rash of counterfeit $100 bills turning up in the Wakaw-Rosthern areas.
