A judge at Court of Queen’s Bench in Prince Albert has sentenced a former high-ranking civil servant to six months probation.
56 year-old Murdoch Carriere, former Director of the province’s Forest Fire Control Centre, was convicted yesterday of assaulting two former co-workers.
Both women testified Carriere continuously hugged and kissed them against their approval.
In his ruling, the judge sided with the women’s version of events, also saying he didn’t understand how the conduct could have gone on as long as it did without being detected by other supervisors.
Speaking outside the courthouse, Prosecutor Chris Sabat says the sentence should send a strong message.
Carriere left without speaking to reporters. His lawyers say he’s disappointed but he may consider an appeal.
