Galloway Professional Ethics Hearing Adjourned

An official with the Saskatchewan Teachers Federation says it will likely be April or May before a professional ethics committee rules on the case of Rita Galloway.

The former native activist was in Saskatoon yesterday for a hearing to determine whether her teaching licence should be revoked.

The application for the withdrawal of her teaching certificate has been made by three teachers within the Saskatchewan Rivers School Division.

They argue that because Galloway was convicted and imprisoned for killing a 16-year-old girl near Prince Albert while driving drunk — and then fled the scene of the accident — she is no longer fit to teach.

Galloway’s husband says his wife has suffered enough and should be left alone.
