The search continues for a missing Prince Albert boy.
Four-year-old Sweetgrass Kennedy has not been seen since last Thursday.
Jason Stonechild of the Prince Albert Police Service says the search effort has drawn in hundreds of volunteers, including contingents from the northern communities of Stony Rapids and Grandmother’s Bay.
“Everyone’s been willing to spend long days and work all night to try to locate this boy,” he said.
Police, firefighters and other searchers combed riverbanks in northern Saskatchewan over the weekend as the search continues for a four-year-old boy who went missing last week.
Sergeant Berry Wauters with the Prince Albert Police Service says the search for Sweetgrass Kennedy is focusing on the North Saskatchewan River, where police said Friday their search was being directed.
The boy was wearing a light blue “Star Wars” hoodie and orange Halloween pajama pants when he disappeared.
Wauters says police have continued to receive tips, which they follow up, but that none so far have turned out to be significant.
In the meantime, four search boats have been deployed in what police describe as strategic points along the river.
The boats have representation from the Prince Albert Police Service, Saskatchewan First Nation Emergency Management, Prince Albert Grand Council, Prince Albert Fire Department and the RCMP.
Police say they will continue to update the public as updates become available.
