The Red Earth First Nation and Buffalo River Dene Nation are among eight northern Saskatchewan communities that have just received upgrades to their Internet service from SaskTel.
SaskTel spokeswoman Michelle Englot says Dore Lake, Sucker River, Sled Lake, Cole Bay, and the Waterhen Lake and Shoal Lake reserves also just got SaskTel’s high-speed Internet service.
Englot says this new expansion is part of the $11.6-million Northern Broadband Network initiative, which will eventually see 35 northern communities with the high-speed Internet connection.
Representatives from the Prince Albert Grand Council, Meadow Lake Tribal Council and New North make up the non-profit Northern Broadband Network.
