A group of boaters luckily escaped injury Friday afternoon after the vessel they were in sank on a northern Saskatchewan lake.

Police say they received a call, a little before 2 p.m., of boaters in distress on Lac La Ronge due to the vessel they were in sinking.

The three individuals were rescued about 10 minutes later by another boat.

All three were wearing lifejackets.

RCMP say the reasons for the boat sinking remain unknown at this time and they are still investigating.

They are also reminding boaters now that the summer season is here, to ensure they are wearing lifejackets.
