A class action lawsuit is being launched against the RCMP by the mother of a missing Saskatchewan First Nations woman.
The lawsuit was launched Thursday morning in Regina.
Diane BigEagle is part of a lawsuit suing the RCMP for $600 million alleging systemic negligence by the police force for failing to properly investigate and prosecute the disappearances and murders of several victims including Danita Faith BigEagle.
The statement of claim alleges that Diane BigEagle met with the RCMP in excess of 50 times but concerns about her daughter were not taken seriously by police.
Danita Faith BigEagle, the mother of two children from the Ocean Man First Nation, went missing in February 2007 and is presumed dead.
The allegations have not been proven in court.
Calls for comment from Diane BigEagle were not immediately returned.
