Indigenous hockey player and former NHLer Reggie Leach will be making an appearance in Flin Flon next month.
Leach is putting on a hockey school at the Whitney Forum from August 8-11.
“I have a lot of fun,” said Leach. “My life today is strictly for First Nations youth and for all the youth across Canada – point them in the right direction and hope that they learn one or two things from what I say to them.”
Leach says he will likely be talking about suicide prevention with the kids.
“I wish I would have a magic wand and make everything better, especially with the suicides of our young youth – our First Nations communities across the country,” said Leach. “I’m a big believer that we need to pay more attention to our youth.”
The Riverton, Manitoba product played junior hockey with the Flin Flon Bombers in the MJHL and WCHL.
He played over 900 games in the NHL and recorded 666 points. He is best-known for his time with the Philadelphia Flyers.
