The B.C. company working to open a marijuana retail outlet in La Ronge is hoping to begin an information campaign later this year.
Aura Cannabis was awarded the licence for the facility and is looking at several locations to set up the business.
Andrew Gordon is the company’s executive vice-president, he says once a location has been chosen, the next phase will begin.
“Then we work with city council to amend the bylaws,” he said. “They will work to get that done through the summer in preparation for October the 17th — and then at that point, they’d be able to award us a licence.”
A location for the business still has not been finalized, but Gordon says there are a number of possibilities, including the former CIBC building along La Ronge Avenue.
Gordon says he is working to organize a public information session in La Ronge, possibly in mid-September, involving a number of stakeholders.
He says the session would include experts in the field, a question-and-answer session and information for the general public.
