The Golden Hawks Fastball Club hosted the 2018 Canadian Native Fastball Championships in Regina over the weekend.

There were five divisions and 77 teams entered.

Sapotaweyak Cree took the masters men’s division, as they beat Team Big Man in the final. The Cross Lake Brewers came in third.

In the masters women’s division, the SK Kokos beat the Northern Black Bears. The Northern Black Bears were the masters women’s champions in 2017. The third-place winner was the WFL Braves.

In the senior men’s final, the Westbank Cardinals beat the Golden Hawks. Big Guy Lake rounded out the top three. The Westbank Cardinals have held the CNFC title since 2015.

In the senior women’s final, Team Pride defeated Red Nation, as they tried to defend the title they have held since 2012.

The Mi’kmaq Crushers defeated Damon’s Pride in the junior men’s finale. Third place went to Sask. Bronx.

The 2019 Canadian Native Fastball Championship will be hosted by Peguis First Nation in Winnipeg Aug. 2-4, 2019.
